Hi after couple of tries it’s now working for me, originally I named it “OS X El Capitan Final”, and for some reason I renamed it to “El Capitan Final” and redo step 5, then it works, but now my issue is I’m stuck in apple id login, have anyone encountered the same and how to go around it? Thanks

I was having a lot of the same problems that are described in this thread. What I had to do was to make to follow the instructions step by step. A few things I initially did wrong are 1. reusing the setextradata command…. notice that on DeviceKey and GetKeyFromRealSMC the command uses smc not efi 2. I once got the black screen… I just had to change the chipset in the virtual box settings to PIIX3 3. I also got the blue tooth error initially. I was using the VirtualBox 4.x instructions. 4. To resolve all of this I removed… Read more »

Fernando, can you please elaborate on what you mean by ‘reusing the setextradata command’ mistake you made?

Fernando

Sure. So.. as you enter the command line instructions there’s these two instructions…
VBoxManage setextradata “Your VM Name” “VBoxInternal/Devices/efi/0/Config/DmiBoardProduct” “Iloveapple”
VBoxManage setextradata “Your VM Name” “VBoxInternal/Devices/smc/0/Config/DeviceKey”

At first, I made the mistake of using the up arrow for the second command and then just changing the last part of the second command “…DeviceKey” and setting the actual key. However, notice that the two paths have different values. One has ../efi/0/… and the other has …/smc/0/…. It gave me no errors but when I tried to run it, the start up commands had several errors.

Hello! I have installed vm and started to log in MAC. I have 64x and 8 windows.
I have changed chippset and it takes long to enter. I saw a topic how to speed up it getting rid of login settings during preload. But how much does the frst load take?

After trying the step 5 fix a number of times and removing and starting from scratch I am curious. I have a Q6600 CPU running Windows 10, VirtualBox Version 5.1.12 r112440 (Qt5.6.2). I set everything to suggested settings though on a desktop the Mouse probably should be PS2, I ignored that thought and set it as stated. Ran the step 5 after creating the VM and still freeze at the consider RebuildOfPreLinkedKernel com.apple.kext.triggers triggered rebuild. As seen by some below. It appears that the loginWindow fails to launch just before this. With the following message. Process{173}crashed: LoginWindow. Too many corpses… Read more »

I finally got it to work, but the App Store, iMessage, and iCloud won’t work. iCloud says it won’t work because ‘it was having trouble identifying the identity of this Mac’. I’ve googled it, but nothing that works. Is there a solution here?

Hi I’m trying to get this to work. I am on Windows 10 with Intel i5 ASUS Motherboard.
I have gone through all the steps (even step 5 for the appropriate versions)
For VirtualBox versions 5.0 & 5.1 I get this error before I even start the machine: http://imgur.com/a/lCGpz
For VirtualBox version 4.3.40 I get this error after starting the virtutal machine and waiting for it to boot: http://imgur.com/a/RPcdl

Is there something I missed?

Hi, for some reason every time I start the VM it goes to a black screen and nothing happens.

I left the machine running and attempted a reinstall, but the same result.

Host OS : Windows 10 Home

For those having problems such as vm being terminated, see how I resolved it:

1.Downloaded an old version of virtualbox 5.0.3.0
2.Under general settings, set the Version to Mac OS (64-bit)
3. Under Motherboard, set Chipset to PIIX3
4. Under Acceleration, set Paravirtualisation Interface to KVM

Awesome! Setting version to “Mac OS (64-bit)” instead of “Mac OS X El Capitan” solved my problem!!
Thank you!!
